KANGAROO CONSERVATION CENTER (KCC)

2008 GENERAL TOUR POLICIES

We offer several ways to visit the Center. Open days and tour times/dates are detailed on our online calendar. There will be limited or NO Admissions on some days; please be sure and check our online calendar OR call BEFORE driving here. For a very educational experience, we encourage visitors to enjoy the guided “Aussie Adventure” Tour. Advanced ticket purchases are highly recommended due to the exclusive nature of the tour. Tours may fill up several weeks or more in advance, so plan ahead. Tickets can be purchased online (www.kangaroocenter.com) or by calling 706-265-6100 to place your order using a credit card. Admission price for the “Aussie Adventure” guided tour includes access to exhibits and walking trails in addition to the Boomerang Exhibition, KangaRanger truck ride and the Wild Australia show. The Aussie Adventure tour lasts approximately one hour and 15 minutes, but plan on spending 2 - 3 hours at the Center if you wish to experience all we offer.

Another experience offered to visit the Center is the “Wander DownUnder” Admission. This allows visitors to enter the Center and enjoy our exhibits and walking trails, on certain days, at their own leisure. This does not include the KangaRanger truck ride or the Wild Australia Show. Advance ticket purchases are generally not required, with exception of some publicized “Special Events.” Please call to check availability.

Admission Ticket Cancellation policy: All ticket sales are final.  Ticket purchasers may reschedule their tour time/date one time only, by notifying KCC Tour Sales Staff by phone or thru email tours@kangaroocenter.com or fax 706-265-6261 no later than two days (48 hours) prior to the scheduled tour time; no exceptions. Allow sufficient time for the KCC Staff  to then phone the ticket purchaser to reschedule. Rescheduling more than one time is not permitted. Our tours allow a limited number of guests per tour. Please note that if you show up with more people than you purchased tickets for, there is no guarantee that there will be space available on the tour for them. If, for any reason, it is necessary for KCC staff to cancel a tour, we will allow you to reschedule your current tickets to another available date or we will refund any pre-purchased tickets.

CHILDREN: Minimum age for admission is 6 years old. No underage children allowed due to insurance regulations. NO EXCEPTIONS. Tickets purchased for an underage child will result in an invalid non-refundable ticket. Our staff reserves the right to question the age of any child who appears underage. We use standard height and weight charts. All children (17 years and under) must have an adult accompany them at all times while at KCC. Adults are responsible for the behavior of their children.

VISITOR CONDUCT: For the benefit and safety of all our visitors and our animal collection, NO horseplay, littering, shouting, running, feeding animals or throwing objects is allowed. KCC staff reserve the right to enforce our policies and order anyone not following our rules to leave the facility immediately and no refunds will be given.

DRESS CODE: Please dress appropriately for a public outdoor adventure and for the seasonal weather. Some paths are mulched/unpaved on hilly terrain so wear sturdy walking shoes. The Aussie Outpost offers for sale convenient single packets of sunscreen and inexpensive rain ponchos. Umbrellas are not allowed to open/use while riding on the KangaRanger truck.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: The Center is located in the North Georgia Mountains and the terrain is hilly. Visitors must be able to walk a minimum of ¼ mile. To fully enjoy all the Center’s exhibits and walking trails, plan on walking 1 mile plus. Some paths are unpaved, mulched, and hilly and are not handicap accessible. Our KangaRanger truck can accommodate one wheelchair per tour with advanced notice. For visitors in wheelchairs, using walkers, canes or having other special needs’: a mobile Adult in their party must accompany them to assist as needed at all times while on KCC property. This is a requirement for admission. Upon arrival at KCC, visitors with mobility or special health needs will be asked to sign a liability waiver.

RAIN/WEATHER:  The tour will be held rain or shine. Please remember that weather can sometimes be unpredictable, but it will be warm in the summer and possibly cold in early spring and late fall. In the rare event of severe weather or other emergencies, KCC staff reserves the right to cancel a tour (see Admission Ticket Cancellation Policy above).  Refunds will not be issued due to normal weather conditions (rain, hot, cold, etc.). Umbrellas are not allowed to open/use while riding on the KangaRanger truck.

PERSONAL PETS:  Pets are not allowed on the premises for the health and safety of our animal collection. Please leave your pets safely at home. We ask that you do not leave your pet(s) inside a car in the parking area. Pets can die in an overheated car in warm weather.

PICNIC BUTTERFLY GARDEN: Convenient to the parking area, and just behind the Aussie Outpost Giftshop, is our picnic area offering numerous tables in a shady garden overlooking a kangaroo habitat. Visitors may purchase light snacks in the Aussie Outpost or bring their own prepared food (no grilling/cooking for fire safety reasons).

OTHER ZOO MEMBERSHIPS: As a special courtesy to AZA members and members of AZA zoological facilities, we offer 10% off merchandise purchases from the Aussie Outpost Gift Shop. (This is for the cardholder only, must show card and I.D. prior to purchase.) There are no discounts for admission prices.

Thank you for your interest in the Kangaroo Conservation Center. Your admission and giftshop purchases support our Center and our animal conservation programs. We look forward to seeing you soon!
