KANGAROO CONSERVATION CENTER (KCC)

2010 GENERAL VISITOR POLICY

 

 “Ride & Wander”  Experience the "Outback" on Saturdays and Select Fridays to view mobs of kangaroos on the KangaRanger Tram Ride and explore a variety of exhibits that you Wander at your leisure. KangaRanger space is limited, so purchase a confirmed ticket and time online to reserve your place on the KangaRanger. MUST BE 5 YEARS OLD OR ABOVE TO BE ADMITTED INTO THE CENTER.  Before or after your guided tour, you may visit our Billabong Encounter and NightHoppers, hike thru Fern Valley Nature Trail or on Aussie Walkabout, or just relax outside and watch the ‘roos, weather permitting, in our scenic North Georgia setting. Onsite Parking is FREE.

A RED X on any date denotes NOT OPEN, or the tour is sold out.

NOTE: All tours/prices are subject to change without notice. Tour requires walking on sloped paths and across grassy terrain. Comfortable, enclosed shoes are required; Dress appropriately for the weather. This is an educational tour and covers topics too advanced for very young children. Visitors may be in close proximity to exotic animals and accept all risks thereof. Visitors must abide by all directions given by our guide.

Tickets are non-refundable and non-reusable; They are valid only on the day and at the time of your tour. If you are unable to attend, please consider your purchase as a donation to KCC, which receives no outside funding. Or you may donate your tickets for use to a friend or family member; If you do so, please call 706-265-6100 in advance of your tour and give us the name(s) of the attending parties. They must present your original tickets (print at home) and are required to abide by all KCC admission and tour regulations.                           

 

 

TICKET  CANCELLATION POLICY: All ticket sales are final.  In the rare event of severe weather or unexpected occurrences or emergencies occurring at KCC, KCC staff reserves the right to cancel ANY tour, event or activity. Only in such circumstances will refunds will be issued.

 

CHILDREN: Minimum age for admission to the facility is 5 years old; No exceptions. Tickets purchased for an underage child are NOT valid and are NOT refundable. Our staff reserves the right to question the age of any child who appears underage. We use standard height and weight charts. All children (17 years and under) must have an adult accompany them at all times while at KCC. Adults are responsible for the behavior of all children in their party. Minimum ages for other admission options are subject to change/will be posted on our website.

 

VISITOR CONDUCT: For the benefit and safety of all our visitors and our animal collection, horseplay, littering, shouting, running, visitors feeding animals or throwing objects is NOT allowed. KCC staff reserve the right to enforce our policies and order anyone not following our rules to leave the facility immediately and no refunds will be given.

 

KCC IS A SMOKE-FREE FACILITY; NO SMOKING PERMITTED ANYWHERE ON PREMISES.

  

Plan your Outing:

 

DRESS CODE: Please dress appropriately for a public outdoor adventure and for the “seasonal” weather. Shirts and shoes are required to be worn at all times. Some paths are mulched or grassy on natural hilly terrain so wear sturdy, appropriate shoes.

 

RAIN/WEATHER:  The tour will be held rain or shine. Please remember that weather can sometimes be unpredictable. In the rare event of severe weather or other unexpected occurrences or emergencies occurring at KCC, KCC staff reserves the right to cancel ANY tour, event or activity. In such circumstances, refunds may be issued if deemed appropriate by KCC staff. For safety reasons, umbrellas are not allowed to be used while riding on the KangaRanger truck.

 

FOOD CONCESSIONS: The Aussie Outpost offers for sale a variety of light snack items. All proceeds from shop sales help to fund the Center.

 

PICNIC BUTTERFLY GARDEN: Convenient to the parking area, and just behind the Aussie Outpost Gift Shop, our picnic area offers numerous tables in a shady garden overlooking a kangaroo habitat. Food and drinks may be purchased in the Aussie Outpost or visitors may bring their own prepared food (no grilling/cooking for fire safety reasons).

 

ACTIVITY LEVEL: By nature of this attraction and its location, it is an outdoor adventure. Visitors must be able to walk a minimum of 1/4 mile. To fully enjoy all the Center’s exhibits and walking trails, plan on walking 1 mile plus. Some paths are unpaved, mulched, and hilly and are not handicap accessible due to natural mountain terrain. When included in certain tours, our KangaRanger truck can be accommodated to carry one wheelchair per ride; KCC must be notified at least one day prior to your visit for truck preparation.  Visitors in wheelchairs, using walkers, canes or having other special needs’ must have an adult in their party to assist them as needed at all times while on KCC property. This is a requirement for admission. KCC is not able to provide escorted assistance to special needs’ visitors during their visit.  Upon arrival at KCC, visitors with mobility or special health needs will be required to sign a liability waiver.

 

AUSSIE OUTPOST/VISITOR CENTER: Our Aussie-themed giftshop offers for sale nature-related gifts and souvenirs. Educational items are displayed as well as information pertaining to the history of KCC.  All proceeds from shop sales help to fund the Center.

 

PETS:  Pets are not allowed on the premises for the health and safety of our animal collection. We request that you leave your pets safely at home. Please do not leave your pet(s) inside a car in the parking area. Pets can die in an overheated car.  KCC is not responsible for the condition of any pets brought into our facility against our regulations. Pet owners will be legally liable for any damage/injury to KCC staff, visitors, personal property or our animal collection caused by their pets.

 

DISCOUNTS: We salute our military forces, past and present.  Make a purchase in our Aussie Outpost and receive a 25% discount off tickets purchased by presenting a valid military I.D. prior to your sale. Discounted tickets NOT available online.  Tickets MUST be purchased in store.  Limited to active duty military, activated reservists and retired military. Proof of Military eligibility is required.
