Blue-Winged Kookaburras, native to Australia and New Guinea, are members of the kingfisher family. As a carnivorous bird, they eat small rodents, lizards, snakes and occasionally fish.  The Kangaroo Conservation Center is one of only two institutions in North America with this beautiful species of bird on exhibit. In the past two years, our Center has had the successful hatching and rearing of two kooklets (baby kookaburras).  In its captive history at any zoological park, this species has not reproduced well , so we are extremely proud and happy with our success.
