(Class Aves)

Birds are an extremely diverse grouping of animals.  They all have feathers, scales, and beaks.  Some fly, some swim, and some run.  There is a wide range of birds found in Australia due to the fact that many birds do fly allowing them to travel amongst the island chains connecting Australia to Southeast Asia.  This region is called Australasia and is given its own zoogeographic zone due to its unique compilation of wildlife, birds or otherwise.

Here at the Kangaroo Conservation Center we have an assortment of birds from all over the Australasia area.  You can visit them in our Billabong Encounter or our Wings Downunder Aviary
